Another unreal goal from Habs' prospect Ivan Demidov
Since the beginning of the KHL season and despite having a reduced time on ice, Montreal Canadiens' prospect, Ivan Demidov, has been sensational for the SKA of St. Petersburg, Russia.
Multiple times so far this campaign, the 19-year-old scored filthy goals and yet, he did it again today, as his team is facing the Lokomotiv.
In fact, Demidov capitalized on a turnover in the offensive zone and scored a backhand beauty for his 14th of the season, tying the game 2-2 in the 2nd period.
The SKA of St. Petersburg ended up losing in overtime 4-3 against the Lokomotiv. The SKA is currently 2nd in its division with a record of 25-18 in 43 games, good for 54 points.
Drafted 5th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2024 NHL Draft, Demidov currently has 31 points in 42 games (without today's game).
The Russian has shown his skills and his talent on multiple levels so far and the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge fans surely can't wait to see him in action with the Habs uniform.
Fans will need to show patience as general manager Kent Hughes mentioned the chances of seeing Demidov making his NHL debut this season were pretty much absent.
However, there are high chances to see the Habs' prospect with the big club starting next year as he'll most likely be part of the roster for the 2025-26 campaign.
It will be interesting to see what Demidov does for the rest of the season and how many points he'll end the campaign with. So far, his performances have been hyping the fans and with reason.
In December, Demidov was named the Rookie of the Month in the KHL. It was his second time this season. He also received the Rookie of the Week mention a few times as well.
