No, Michael Hage is not the NCAA's top scorer.

When we talk about Montreal Canadiens prospects playing in the American college circuit, his name often comes up in discussions, and we can understand why.

In his first college season, the Canadiens' 21st pick in 2024 is off to a great start to the campaign, with nine points in nine games.

But the player I want to talk to you about is Sam Harris.

Currently, the American, originally from San Diego, California, is the leading scorer in the entire NCAA.

Playing for the University of Denver, Harris has scored nine goals in nine games since the start of the season. He has a total of 13 points.

Not bad for a fifth-round pick, 133rd overall in 2023, right?

"9 goals in 9 games. As everyone predicted, Sam Harris is now leading the entire NCAA in goals. 7th in total points. Let me also remind you that he doesn't even play on the first line in Denver. Don't sleep on him." -Mathieu Gervais

At 21, Harris had a difficult campaign in 2023-2024, collecting 21 points in 42 games. But this year, he is literally exploding and could, sooner rather than later, earn a contract with the Habs.

He will obviously be one to watch in the coming years, because we know of high-performing university players who are now struggling in the pros.

Sean Farrell, for example, was all fired up during his last year of university with 53 points in 34 games. This season, he has not scored a single point with the Laval Rocket in 10 games, unfortunately illustrating the transition from hero to zero.

Let's just say that this should be taken with a grain of salt, but the case of Sam Harris, with his good size of 6 feet 1 inch, will be one to watch closely!
