As reported by Habs Fanatics, the Vancouver Canucks are reportedly listening to offers for the 26-year-old star and this was fueled by speculation of locker-room tension between Pettersson and teammate J.T. Miller.
Former Canucks coach Bruce Boudreau recently hinted at unresolved issues within the team and it's adding weight to the possibility of a major trade.
Here is the proposed deal:
To Montreal - Elias Pettersson
To Vancouver - Kirby Dach, Owen Beck, Logan Mailloux, and a first-round pick.
For Montreal, acquiring Elias Pettersson who is one of the NHL's most skilled centerswould certainly help bring the Canadiens to a new level.
At 26, he's entering his prime and coming off a 102-point season in 2022-23 and his ability to dominate offensively and drive play would make him one of the key player of the rebuild.
On the other side, Kirby Dach is a 22-year-old forward with immense potential who thrived last year bu have some difficulties right now.
Owen Beck is a top prospect known for his two-way game and Logan Mailloux offers offensive upside at the blue line.
The first-round pick in a deep draft adds significant value to the package.
The Canadiens must weigh the immediate impact of acquiring a superstar like Elias Pettersson against the long-term cost of trading core assets and for the Canucks, this deal could address organizational needs while moving on from a potential rift.
