Samuel Montembeault and the Habs blanked the powerful offense of Connor McDavid and company, by a score of 3-0.
Without real surprise, the head coach decided to keep the same alignment against the Knights. As they say, you don't change a winning formula.
Here is the lineup seen of the Canadiens in training by Marc-Olivier Cook:
The St-Louis training therefore clarifies the situation for Patrik Laine, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Michael Pezzetta.
Patrik Laine's s return to play will have to wait, even though he has made significant progress in his rehabilitation.
Over the past few days, Laine has been testing his knee more and more during exercises requiring mobility, and the results seem very encouraging.
For his part, Harvey-Pinard, who is currently with the Laval Rocket, will play his second game of the season this evening. It will be interesting to see if he will be recalled by the big club following the meeting.
As for Pezzetta, the situation is more worrying: he is still excluded from Martin St-Louis' plans, a trend which is increasing over the weeks.
In total, the robust 26-year-old striker has only taken part in three matches this season, out of a possible 19. This situation says a lot about his future with the club, especially since Laine and Harvey-Pinard are not even not yet officially back with the Habs.
It seems increasingly clear, barring a major turnaround, that Pezzetta will be placed on waivers when the two injured players get the nod.
