Present for the ceremony to celebrate the induction of Shea Weber into the Hall of Fame on November 16, at the Bell Centre, the famous number 14 remained in Montreal with the aim of observing the training of the Habs and the Laval Rocket, in order to perfect his knowledge.
Having officially retired from professional hockey in 2023-2024, Tomas Plekanec has become an assistant coach, having notably helped the Czech Republic win the gold medal at the last Hockey World Championship.
This beautiful and long visit to Quebec was therefore the perfect opportunity for Pleky to learn more about the training methods of Martin St-Louis and Pascal Vincent, with the aim of improving his skills behind the bench.
Now back in his native country, the former Habs center wanted to share a very touching message with the Canadiens' fans, thanking them for the warm welcome he received in recent days.
Obviously, even if his last visit dates back to 2018, the Canadiens and the city of Montreal still have a very special place in the heart of Tomas Plekanec.
Selected 71st overall in the 2001 draft, the Czech forward quickly became a crowd favorite thanks to his efficiency in defensive territory as well as his playmaking skills.
With the exception of 17 games played with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Tomas Plekanec spent his entire career in a Habs uniform, amassing an impressive total of 233 goals and 373 assists (606 points) in 984 games, good for 13th place in points in franchise history.
Although he is no longer officially with the organization, he will always be, in my opinion, a member of the Canadiens, he who gave everything for this team during his 14 seasons spent in Montreal.
