We now know why Tomas Plekanec has been around the Montreal Canadiens in recent days

Former Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Plekanec has been spotted around the team on numerous occasions in recent days.

The famous number 14 was present for the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets last Saturday, a game in which his former teammate, Shea Weber, was honored by the organization for his induction into the Hall of Fame.

However, if some fans thought he was back in Montreal to support his former captain, they were surprised to see that Tomas Plekanec remained in the capital this week as well.

With that being said, he was notably seen live from the CN Sports Complex in Brossard at all of the Habs' practices as well as at Place Bell for a Laval Rocket game, thus raising some questions about the real reason for his visit.

Renaud Lavoie reveals the reason behind Tomas Plekanec's visit

Appearing on the show "JiC" on TVA Sports, Renaud Lavoie clarified the situation, shattering the hopes of some fans who were hoping to see Pleky join the Montreal organization.

According to information provided by the Quebecer, the former Habs center came to Montreal with the goal of taking notes on the Canadiens' training techniques, he who, let's remember, is an assistant coach in the Czech Republic.

We can therefore put aside, at least for the moment, the possibility of seeing Tomas Plekanec hired by the CH, he who only wanted to deepen his learning in order to continue his development as an assistant coach.

Nevertheless, it was still nice to see the forward in the team's entourage these last few days, especially since the Canadiens won the two games that Tomas Plekanec attended.

In his career, the 71st overall pick in the 2001 draft accumulated 233 goals and 375 assists (608 points) in 1,001 games with the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Also, note that of the 1,001 games he played in the Bettman circuit, 984 of them were in a Montreal uniform.
