Acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in the summer of 2023, the former 2019 first-round pick has only two goals in 13 games so far and it appears one of his past supporters has already threw the towel in his case.
During the broadcast of the last episode of the podcast Processus, Simon The Snake Boisvert went on to evaluate the Canadien's young players who, according to him, are part of the reconstruction of the team.
When it was the turn to analyze the case of Alex Newhook, Boisvert told Mathias Brunet that he now saw him as a third-line player.
Rather worrying comments in his case given the fact that he is only 23 years old and he still has a lot of time to reach his full potential.
However, it must be said that his performances have left something to be desired since the start of the season and that we do not see the Newhook of the end of last season.
Last year, he collected 34 points in 55 games, which would have given him a season above 50 points if he had played a full season of 82 games.
That said, it is too early to throw in the towel in his case but his low production since the start of the season is starting to worry the Canadiens' fans.
And note that he is not the only one to experience a slow start in 2024-2025 and in this same perspective, we can think of a certain Kirby Dach.
