There are many criticisms of the team and whether we like it or not, many are directed directly at Martin St-Louis. Some are outright asking for his firing.
For former Canadiens Gilbert Delorme, it won't be long if things don't change. We understand that people are frustrated by the situation, but his words really go far. For him, Martin's system is simply rotten.
He thinks Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will have no choice but to walk him into the office and tell him to change his defensive system, because it's embarrassing.
The Canadiens is the laughing stock of the NHL in his zone, I agree with that, but I think Gilbert is going too far. He doesn't weigh his words and it's quite shocking.
The Canadiens are currently rebuilding and it could well be a long process, much longer than the world would like.
I don't think we should throw in the towel with Martin St-Louis, but I agree that he should perhaps re-evaluate his defensive zone strategy. It's true that it's difficult to see, even that the fans are seriously starting to get impatient.
The Canadiens must keep Martin St-Louis in his position in my opinion, but I am certain that if revenues start to drop because the team is not performing enough, it will not take long for the coach to be singled out for internally too.
