It's safe to say that Lane Hutson has been nothing short of amazing since the start of the season.

So much so that the 20-year-old rookie inspires veterans among the Canadiens and this is the case of a certain Michael Matheson.

As reported by the siteHabsolumentfan.com, the veteran spoke to Anthony Martineau about the fact that Hutson's game has inspired his way of playing since the start of the season.

«Ah, of course yes! I played with Rob Schremp in the minors and he told me he always wanted to take something from his teammates and try to put it into his game.

For sure, Lane is really special with the puck so I would be stupid not to watch him and learn as much as I can. » - Michael Matheson

This says a lot about the talent of the young man and especially the humility of a veteran of the caliber of Matheson, as the TVA Sports journalist mentioned.

«Mike played 560 games in the NHL. He had 62 points last season.

The fact that he's taking inspiration from a guy who doesn't even have 15 games of NHL experience yet says a lot about the clout Lane already has on this team.

And by the way, having often talked to him about Lane since the start of the season (on and off cam), I never perceived ANY jealousy on Mike's part. » - Anthony Martineau

Unsurprisingly, the two defenders have dominated the scoring column among the Canadiens' rearguards since the start of the season and we wonder when Martin St-Louis would intend to use them together on the first wave of the power play.
